History of Kinniya Education Zone

A village called Kinniya is located in Sri Lanka's Eastern Province. Kinniya resembles an island with a lagoon surrounding it. There are many religious persons in Kinniya. Islam is the most common religion practiced, followed by Hindusm and Catholicism. The people's income comes from farming, fishing, and other means.
When the Zonal System for Education was established as part of the education reforms, Kinniya was connected to the Mutur zone and it operated till 14.12.2008.
Mr. A.M. Sakariyya served as the first Zonal Director of Education from 15.12.2008 until 26.06.2010. The segregated Kinniya zone began operations in a portion of a school building in T/Kin/Al-Iqra Vid. Mr. U.L.A. Hakim was the next to be appointed Zonal Director of Education. He significantly altered the development of Kinniya territory. Through his creative ideas, he improved the outcomes of the public examinations. He established the Zonal Education Office in a permanent structure by transferring land that belonged to education to health and used that land to construct the Zonal Education Office. Working from 11.1.2011 to 30.12.2012 was Mr. M.L.A. Hashim. After Mr. U.L.A. Hashim, Mr. M. Sehu Ali took over as the Zonal Director of Education, serving in that capacity from January 1, 2013, to March 24, 2015.
The Zonal Director position was thereafter filled by Mr. A. Nasuharkhan, who held it from 25.03.2015 to 10.11.2016. Mr. A.M.Ahamed Lebbe later served as the Kinniya Zone's Zonal Director. Mr. A.M. Ahame Lebbe worked here between November 11, 2016, and September 28, 2017. then, Mrs. Z.M.M. Naleem assumed the duties of the zonal director then she got transferred to another zone. Later Mr.A.Nasooharkahn took over the responsibilities as the zonal Director and worked to date.
